This was a quote I saw the other day that a colleague displayed at his desk. Interesting quote I thought as I read it while waiting for him to find some documents. I read it again and again thinking 'this is so true'.

People often tell me some really cool plans they have for the coming months. It may be related to work, self improvement, travel, hobbies, etc. and in the moment I get really excited with them because their enthusiasm is so contagious. Then six months later I will ask them how they are going with their plan and often I will hear they just haven't gotten around to it or they aren't so sure anymore. What happens here? They are obviously willing and they have the required knowledge to do some of these things. I think the quote written above sums it up quite nicely. They don't apply their knowledge and quite simply, they just don't DO! How can you expect to have any kind of result without action?

About a year ago, a friend of mine was telling me of his plans to get really good at picking up women. In my eyes he was already good with women but he wanted to be able to go out on the town and attract complete strangers. He told me about some of the books he had been reading and how cool it would be to be able to walk up to any set of girls in a bar and start up a really good conversation. He seemed to be really passionate about the subject and I could tell he was serious about this.

Today, it is so good to see that he has followed through with his plans. It's so refreshing to meet people who do what they say they will. It takes real commitment and in my mind it separates the achievers from the non-achievers. I have never met anymore more committed to becoming a PUA. He has so much knowledge in the subject, applies everything he learns and it must be working because every week I hear stories of him picking up. It's quite surprising to see how much he has progressed in the last year.

I think the biggest step is to just to make a start. Read some books, play around with a few things and share your experiences with other like-minded people who can help you out in some of the difficult first stages.
